Oh.. I know.... But when I have I ever kept any of my promises! Things have been... well... I certainly have been occupied. Its been a long while since I read anything halfway decent. Work has been pretty draining and once I get back home and hit the couch in front of the TV, there is very little motivation to go back and actually pour out my frustrations in to the aether! Also, after a long time, I actually find my work rewarding. Not self affirming or even interesting, mind you, but, its at least not like pushing a boulder up a hill. So things are not all bad!
Like I said, I have been slacking up on reading and watching late night reruns of scrubs, but, I did start off with Guy
kavriel Kay's The
Fionavar Tapestry once again. I finished the first book, but really couldn't get going after that! I've been reading too much Fantasy! The last proper book that I read was the slim"Anthologist" by Nicholas Baker, which was a hell of a good book by the way! Anyway, contemplating doing a Gene Wolfe Marathon next! I'm gonna start off with the Book of New Sun and then the Long Sun and finally round everything off with the Short Sun. In total there are about thirteen books in this series. Since the books are long and tough and the fact that my only new year resolution was to "never speed read again!", I am going take this nice and easy. I intend to finish the entire series in 26 weeks, that is, by sometime around August. After that, we will see! may be one more crack at " the Recognitions" and "Ulysses" or may be the "Sot Weed factor". We will cross the bridge when we get to it!
On the music front, I have been listening to a lot of The
Decemberists, especially- Hazards of Love and The Crane Wife. These are probably my favourite albums now! I've also been listening to Arcade fire and Florence and The Machine! I've discovered Anthony and the
Johnsons and
Sufjian Stevens. I've also tried listening to M.I.A and
JayZ. So, it has been a very interesting time for me in terms of music!
I started catching up on Dexter. It's a series on Showtime and it is awesome! Once I get done with Dexter, I will start off with Lost or may be "the Wire".......
That's it from me for now......I will try to post stuff more frequently... but, then, maybe not!
